There are only six vet schools in the UK, and with most schools only taking 60-100 students each year, there is immense competition for places. At some universities there are as many as 15 applicants for each place.
Entry requirements are very high, and prior to application, most vet schools require extensive work experience. It is therefore particularly important that students are informed of entry requirements at an early stage.
The Veterinary degree is long and demanding, and prospective candidates should have a realistic view of the nature of the career they are aiming for.
