 Medicine is a highly competitive field. In 2003, UCAS recorded 16,753 applicants to Medicine and Dentistry, of which 8615 students were accepted.
It is important that students have thought very carefully about studying Medicine, because becoming a doctor is essentially a life-style choice.
It is not a quick and easy route to money or status, but can obviously be a very rewarding, fulfilling career.
